paul ryan is younger. we're hoping that biden does come out swinging and makes one of the the infamous gaffes like talking about how the middle class has been struggling over the last four years or that he wants to raise the obama administration wants to raise taxes by over a trillion dollars. this is the joe biden we want. joe biden has to be careful about going too hard at paul ryan because of just that, because of the gaffes and because he can look over bearing, and paul, a lot is riding on paul ryan, and we want to keep that momentum going from that first debate, and he has to be careful not to get into the weeds of some of these policies. >> i know. he tends to be quite wonkish at times and people listen and say what? >> well, that's right. it is important that ryan stick with the big picture and go after biden on the rising debt and our sky rocketed unemployment and talk about the failed last four years as opposed to being trying to get trapped in some of the bieden spiderwebs that he will try to wea

he is at a rally with his running mate paul ryan. president obama's campaign event is getting underway right now. you're seeing live pictures there in denver. expect the president to start speaking in a minute as soon as he starts, of course, we'll bring that to you. jessica yellin is at that event as well, and jessica, we've heard a lot of spin. we've heard it late last night. we've heard it early into the morning. is there a point where the surrogates, the supporters who you are talking to acknowledged that the president needs to do better, he needs to move on, he needs to make up for what happened last night? >> no one is officially with the campaign will say that, suzanne. i am talking to democrats who definitely are agreeing with that, and i'm sure you are. they're arg urg that mitt romney was not really truthful, and i think we'll see in the coming days and weeks that the campaign will take on some of the claims that went unanswered last night by the president, but it doesn't resolve the question why didn't the president answer

paul ryan has been pretty busy, almost nonstop, out on the campaign trail the last couple of days. and so, you know, i think he'll let his surrogates do the talking for him until the debate gets started. one other thing we heard from kevin madden yesterday on the campaign plane heading into denver yesterday, brooke, you heard over the weekend, chris christie saying that this race is going to be turned upside down that romney will have such a strong performance that it is going to be sort of a game changer. i asked kevin madden about that yesterday, and he said he doesn't think that the campaign doesn't think that one event, one moment during these debates is going to decide and determine everything. they just don't see it that way. they like christie's enthusiasm, they say they're feeding off of it, but they don't exactly agree with that assessment. brooke, we're all sort of looking to tomorrow night to be this big moment that is going to change everything and be a make or break moment. it may not turn out that way. it may be a draw. the candidates move on to the next debate and ca
